I recall this change. It was not as well attended as other forums, most returning people split off into the other social forums like Writing Groups & Clubs.

There was; it was called the NaNoWriMo Alumni Lounge and was around in 2005-2006 (maybe 2004 as well, but that was the year everything was lost, so I can't verify this).
